A couple of weeks ago I got pulled over for an outdated sticker. When I handed the officer my insurance, it was last years paper (I cleaned out my purse the week before, I obviously took the wrong paper out). He gave me a ticked for the outdated sticker and a court summons for driving without insurance. He told me that if I brought proof of insurance to the station, he would cancel the court date (proof I had insurance before that date). So I brought the paperwork to the station, had another office photocopy it and leave it for him but I haven't heard anything. I don't want to assume that it's been dropped without having been told it is. Should I show up to court on the date just in case? What can I expect if I do? BTW I live in Ontario if that helps.

OK, so I got my car insurance renewal to start on 16 May, and it went up from 40 a month to 60, for no gosh darned reason. Grrr. I know that the insurance has gone up a lot, and I think they blame the compensation claims for this, but up a THIRD! Jeeeeeez! Last year, it went up from 35 a month to 50 and I had a whinge down the phone at them, and they reduced it to 40 by changing the recovery a bit (I don't get help now unless I am more than a mile from home; but the chances are I would be when I broke down anyway, and even if I was half a mile away, I could walk back!) so I agreed to change that. So I rang them today and they said they can lower it a fiver because I am a 'loyal' customer, (so down to 55 a month.) Big deal! I am nearly 40, I passed my test 20 years ago, and I have been with them 10 years and NEVER made a claim, and yet they bump my premium by a third! I am like It's a LOT of dosh. Does this seem like a ludicrous leap to you? Has yours gone up a lot too? Does this sound like a high amount to pay? (55 to 60 a month.) Or reasonable for a 38 year old woman? It does include recovery in this quote, and the recovery is about 130. But 2 years ago, I was paying 35, and this year they are asking for 60 a month! I do like this insurance company and have my home insurance and pet insurance with them too, and don't want to leave, but a jump of a third!

I am just at a loss as a new driver. Passed my test recently and just cannot find affordable car insurance it's madness. The cheapest quotes that I am getting are 4000 and I think it's disgusting. I spoke to my auto insurance company because my lawyer took two months to file my personal injury protection claim. Once, I took action into my own hands then I was assured that the woman handling my case from my car insurance company would see that my PIP paid for my medical expenses because I don't have health insurance. However, another month has passed and I have heard nothing from my lawyer about my case even though I call his office every week. So, today I received a letter in the mail from my lawyer office to my claim insurance person. It has her name on it but my address so I am not sure if it was intentionally sent that way or not. Yet, I read over it and it tells my insurance claim to pay the PIP directly to me and not to the medical company. What do I do about this? Has anyone gone through something similar and can you give me some helpful advice? I don't know if my lawyer is trying to add my PIP with the rest of the money that I will get so he can get a bigger chunk or if he is trying to get my PIP to me instead? I do know that I would like to pay for my medical bills as I am a college student in debt and don't want anymore hassle.

The bumber and trunk of my new 2006 Honda Civic was hit by someone unknown when my car was parked in a lot. The damage is a sizeable dent. How much will it cost for a repair in the dealership? I am 16 years old and State Farm is calling me and it is getting annoying. I don't own a car and I don't drive much. When I do drive I borrow the car that is under my sister's name. When settling with an auto insurance company after a car accident, what is an appropriate amount to request?

I hurt my neck (muscle strain, nothing broken) in a car accident and have exhaused the Personal Injury Protection with the insurance company. They said to call them after my physical therapy was completed to settle for the pain and suffering. The neck pain is still there and will most likely be chronic regardless of any additional physical therapy. I've heard that people are typically given 2X the amount of medical expenses. Car insurance -- should they cover these expenses?

I had an accident a month or two ago. It was in a rental car. I found out today that the insurance company had disallowed some of the charges that the rental company tried to pass to them. Now the rental company is trying to pass those charges to me. They ammount to about $500, plus my deductible, of course. The charges are $100 for an administrative fee $200.89 loss of use fee $139.38 diminished value fee. Who should pay these charges? Should I fork this money over to the car rental company? Should the insurance company pay them? What strategy should I use in my conversations with them? My feeling is that I have insurance, it should pay everything which is an actual cost above and beyond the deductible. ie if I have to pay it, the insurance company should have to pay it. On the other hand, if they are somehow bogus charges, then the rental company can eat it, and that's fine. Thought?

Inexpensive car insurance for person driving MUCH less than 2000 miles a year?

My brother is on disability income and has about $600 a month to live on. Hi I have accidently damaged another car parked in private car park. I have been touch with the owner who has very kindly agreed to get her car repaired and not to go through insurance but she is insisting to get it repaired from garage of her choice who are charging double the amount of original cost. My first question is do I still need to inform my insurance company even though I have not given her any of my details yet. I am happy to get it repaired rather then loosing 10 year no claim bonus.
